San Jose Fire Department Ready, Set, Go!
Ready, Set, Go!, a new program San Jose Fire Department (SJFD) is rolling out in partnership with the FireSafe Council and San Jose Office of Emergency Services, educates residents in high fire risk areas how to prepare for wildfires and what to do during a wildfire. SJFD, the FireSafe Council, and student volunteers blanketed the Suncrest community in East Foothills on April 30th, 2011, just before Wildfire Awareness Week on May 1-7, going door to door to talk with residents and hand out the program brochure and other information.

Chiefs Mike Hacke and Jerry Serpa of the Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and representatives from the Milpitas Fire Department, accepted a Wildfire Awareness Week Proclamation from the City of Milpitas at the Milpitas City Council meeting on May 3, 2011. Chief Serpa is also the President of the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council. The Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department coverage area is north of Alum Rock Park and east of Milpitas and north San Jose.
