Smokey Bear visited San Martin/Gwinn
Elementary School on May 9, 2008

The students had their photos taken with their drawings
of what they had learned about how to prevent wildfires

The students learned Smokey's
story and not to play with matches

And they learned how to put out a
campfire and how to be fire safe in the forest

Daniela: "Dear Smokey, ... I felt short next to you because you were so tall. If you were dead I would have felt worse."

Jonathan: "Dear Smokey and Shannon, Thank you for coming and teaching us tips ..."

Anthony: "Dear Smokey and Shannon, Thank you for telling us not to play with matches and fires ... It was so cool."

Ana: "Dear Smokey and Shannon, Thank you for teaching us about being safe ..."

Anthony: "Dear Smokey, ... I didn't know you could use dirt to put fire out ..."

Andrew: "Dear Smokey, I like when you told us some lessons about 'Don't play with matches' ..."
