The Santa Clara County FireSafe Council continues to make great progress! We're well into our new 2008 federal grants for our Defensible Space Chipping Programs. Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Jose Water Company, Santa Clara County Fire Department, Aldercroft Heights County Water District, Santa Clara Valley Water District, State Farm Insurance, San Jose Fire Fighters Local 230, FM Global Insurance, Loma Prieta Resource Conservation District and individual homeowners have made matching contributions for our Chipping Programs.
So, with all of this growth and great news, what do we need now? More Matching Funding for our new Federal Grants and General Donations! Please help us raise the local funding we need to grow our programs and help us prevent wildfires in Santa Clara County by making a tax-deductible donation to the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council.
If you would like to help make Santa Clara County Fire Safe, you may make a secure online donation or simply mail your tax deductible gift to the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council, 16174 Highland Drive, San Jose, CA 95127. Please call Jenn Viane Riese, Executive Coordinator, at 408-975-9591 to learn about making a donation.

Like to write? Want to put your nifty digital camera to a really good use? Can you help us write stories and take photos for our newsletter? We want to publish more articles written by our readers. Stories should be related to our mission and of general interest to readers throughout the County, particularly those in Wildland Urban Interface areas. The mission of the Santa Clara FireSafe Council is "Mobilizing the people of Santa Clara County to protect their homes, communities and environment from wildfires."
Send your stories, photos and comments to Jenn Viane Riese, E-mail.
